At 74, iconic photographer Jim Marshall has passed away. Although best known for late-sixties and seventies images of rock greats, Marshall continued to shoot rock musicians long past the era he’s most identified with. His latest book was a collaboration with Timothy White entitled Match Prints. He was once famously labelled “the rock and roll photographer,” by Annie Leibovitz. While some of the staffers here at Mamiya and MAC Group knew Marshall personally, all of us will mourn the loss of this talented gentleman who elevated our admiration for our musical heroes to god-like status.
